Witricity's Acquisition Of Halo Technologies Qualcomm Opens Up A New Way To Lay Out The Car Wireless Charging Market

Steve Pazol, former vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Wireless Charging, said that by introducing Qualcomm's cutting-edge technology and expertise, such as Qualcomm Halo Radio Electric Vehicle Charging, innovative car solutions could be further provided, which would help create a more efficient, safer and cleaner vision of urban mobility, while also improving car use experience for car owners. The company is confident that WEVC and WiTricity will combine their market advantages to provide better technology to meet market demand.

It is reported that the acquisition will unify technology development, so that automobile manufacturers can provide a smoother and more efficient charging experience; electric vehicle owners, whether at home, garage or public parking lot, can start charging only by parking above the wireless charging mat, without any heavy cables, almost eliminating the need for plug-in.

At the same time, Qualcomm and WiTricity have been cooperating with International Standards Organizations (ISOs), and many ISOs are currently using their reference designs. Therefore, the acquisition will further promote standardization and ensure the interoperability of charging equipment among automobile manufacturers.

Alex Gruzen, CEO of WiTricity, points out that the company's wireless charging technology is the key to the future mobile age of power, sharing, and autopilot. Users and fleets of electric vehicles require a simple charging experience. Combining WiTricity products with Qualcomm Halo technology will simplify global interoperability and accelerate the commercialization of wireless charging.

At present, China and other countries that attach importance to global warming are phasing out internal combustion engine vehicles. The global market demand for electric vehicles has increased significantly. It is expected that more than 120 million electric vehicles will be on the road in 2030, and the investment in charging public infrastructure will exceed 50 billion US dollars. By 2040, China alone will have 200 million electric vehicles on the road, accounting for one third of all vehicles in the world, and WiTricity expects these electric vehicles to be able to easily recharge wirelessly through the company's unique technology.
